A LOCAL SOLDIER'S WAR

David Wright has family connections with Church Stretton - his grandparents used to live in Holly Cottage (now called Orchard Cottage), Little Stretton. He came across the diary of his grandfather, James Hughes, from the First World War and has allowed us to share a pdf scan of the original diary, a transcription of the contents of the diary with a commentary in red, a chronology of James Hughes's movements and a narrative of his grandfather's experiences.
